Dear ABCE Member!
The time has come for action!
The Florida Legislature is voting soon on two bills that will hurt public schools and public school teachers:
One bill designed de-certify our association, and
One that inserts de-certification language into a “train bill” like last year’s disastrous 7069!
HB25/SB1036 targets education by “carving out” or exempting nearly every other form of labor organization/union from the bill. Law enforcement, corrections officers, first responders - all are exempted from this bill, leaving educators as the only affected group!
The other bill (7055) is a train bill of over 190 pages which inserts language explicitly targeting instructional personnel by name. Both bills set up a system of recertification designed to leave Florida teachers, including Bay County educators, with no union representation.
So, to be blunt -- they are coming for us! Yes, membership in ABCE is voluntary, and yes, we are an association of willing and hard-working volunteers, but does that mean the legislature can take away your choice and silence your voice? No! What can we do? We can stand up, speak out, and stick together! Our strength comes from unity. Together, we are stronger than those who seek to tear us down.
Please contact your elected official (links below) and tell them to vote NO on any attempt to silence your voice!
Not sure what to say? Then copy & paste this short message:
Please do not take away my voice! Vote NO on HB 7055. I am an educator and a voter and I will remember!
